Frequently Asked Questions

When it comes to finding your wedding videographer, it makes sense that you have lots of questions. I have compiled a list so you can see if I'm the right fit for you!

01

What is your style of videography?

I would class my style of videography as a hybrid of cinematic and documentary. I love to capture the day naturally as it unfolds, whilst always looking to compose the shot in the most visually pleasing way. I believe the best moments are those that just happen and are not staged, so you will never find me posing a couple or 'directing' when it comes to your wedding day. You will often see me working around your other suppliers, staying discreet yet still capturing some amazing moments!

02

Do I need a Videographer if I already have a Photographer?

Photos are always so precious to look at when it comes to your past memories. However, when it comes to video, it is an entirely different experience. You get to relive one of the most special days of your life from a new perspective. With video, your wedding day becomes a motion picture that will forever hold the raw emotions felt on the day.

03

Why should we choose you?

When it comes to choosing your wedding videographer, I believe there are a few things that you should take into consideration. Do you like the style of their videos? Are they within your budget? And most importantly, what are they like as a person? If you can, arrange a call with your videographer and get a feel for them. You want someone capturing your wedding day that makes you feel comfortable and at ease, without putting any pressure on you on the day. Personally, I am easy to get on with, i won't take over your day and you know with me, you will be getting a fantastic video without even knowing I'm there!

04

How long have you been filming weddings for?

I started filming weddings back in January 2019 as lead videographer and editor for One in Six Billion. As the need to expand arose, I decided to start my own venture under BLK Videography in 2022, producing my first official BLK Videography Wedding Video in November 2022 at Port Lympne Zoo.

05

How do you operate on the day?

I arrive during bridal prep and start by capturing some establishing shots. I will come and say hello and get setup ready to film. At this point, depending on what is going on I may dip in and out to capture various details, guest arrivals and of course your bridal prep. There is never any pressure from me to get specific shots. I always work around what is happening on the day, floating in and out of what is going on, never getting super close. I may ask if you plan on doing a dad reveal or if gifts are being exchanged, just so I don't miss capturing those moments! I will get setup for ceremony, placing the multiple cameras and mic'ing up the groom! (Don't worry, it's a small lapel mic and is only for the video, it won't project audio anywhere) You may see me at the front of the ceremony for the walk down, after which i quickly move off to the side to get out of the way to achieve a more discreet shot. After Ceremony I will come grab the mic and at that point, the photographer will likely direct you for photos/confetti. Once you've just got married, go mingle with your guests! This is the best time to get some really lovely candid footage of your loved ones congratulating you. This is also the time when some photographers decide to steal you away to take pictures. Wherever you end up, I will be around to film so don't worry! Speeches will be a similar situation with multiple cameras being setup, which is typically done towards the end of your wedding breakfast. It may seem daunting reading 'multiple cameras' but they are always placed as discreetly as possible whilst still achieving a great video. I will also mic up each of the speakers so we have lovely clear audio for your speeches edit. I will be somewhere at the back capturing the speaker from a zoom lens. When it comes to the 'couple shoot', this is another photographer lead part of your day, which I will tag along to, and capture those more intimate moments without getting in the way of anyone! During all the moments in-between the main events, I will be floating around, looking for the best things to capture. For the first dance, I may swoop in and loop around you a couple of times for a really beautiful shot if the moment is right. Overall, I operate discreetly, efficiently and professionally.

06

Will the video use dialogue/audio from the day or just music?

I like to incorporate on the day audio throughout the film, along with various music depending on the scene. There are some moments that work better with just music and some that work better with just the audio. A mix of the two is ideal and a creative decision will be made to what I feel works best. If you have some great speeches or heart felt personal vows, I may use sections of these throughout the edit, unless this is something you do not want. These sort of things will be covered in the pre wedding questionnaire for your preference.

07

Do we have to feed you?

Simply put, no. Whilst a meal is very much appreciated, It is not something I require or ask for. All that I do ask is whether you will be providing food or not so I can make the necessary arrangements my end.

08

How long will it take to receive the video?

From day of filming, I give an 8-12 week turnaround time. Crafting your videos into something that you will cherish forever, takes time and care and is not something that should be rushed. There are of course other projects/weddings that may need to be filmed during this time too. I will always try and beat this time frame so you may get them sooner depending on my work load but 8-12 weeks is what you can expect.

09

How will we receive our videos?

Your videos will be delivered to your very own custom online gallery. You can view your gallery on different devices and send the link to family and friends. There is also the ability to download the videos directly from your gallery, on to your chosen device. If you have opted for the raw files, these will be delivered to you via an external hard drive in the post.
